How to Access Control Panel in Windows 11
This article explains how to open and use the Control Panel app in Windows 11.
What is the Control Panel?
The Control Panel lets you change many settings on your computer. You can adjust your mouse, display, keyboard, network, and sound settings. Why would you use it? Because it’s where you control how your computer looks and works.
For many years, the Control Panel was the main place to adjust Windows settings. Microsoft started moving away from it with Windows 8. They created a newer app called Windows Settings instead. But the Control Panel is still useful and available in Windows 11.
What Can You Find in the Control Panel?
The Control Panel has eight main areas. Each one controls different parts of your computer:
- System and Security — Check your computer’s health and backup your files
- Network and Internet — View and manage your internet connection
- Hardware and Sound — See what devices and printers you have
- Programs — Remove programs you don’t need
- User Accounts — Change or add user accounts
- Appearance and Personalization — Change your desktop theme, icons, and colors
- Clock and Region — Adjust your date, time, and number formats
- Ease of Access — Change display settings and accessibility features
