This article explains how to change the Language, Date, and Time format in the new Outlook app in Windows 11.
The new Outlook for Windows brings the latest features and a modern and simplified design with support for Exchange-backed Microsoft 365 work or school, Outlook.com, Hotmail, and Gmail accounts.
The app has many features, including support for email signatures, external email accounts, setting out-of-office automatic replies, email sorting, subscription management, email forwarding, setting default From address, backing up your mailbox, changing the reading pane, opening a new window for a message, language translations, turn text predictions on or off, switch primary account, sharing a calendar, and more.
When working in Outlook, you can change the language, date, and time format other than the default. In most cases, when you change the language, its current date and time format will also be changed.
Howerver, if those aren’t properly switched based on the language selection, you can independently update those.
There are various reasons to change Outlook’s language, date, and time format. For example, if you work in a multilingual environment, changing Outlook’s language settings can help you communicate more effectively with your colleagues or clients.
This can also be a personal preference, especially if you are more comfortable with a specific language or date/time format. The date and time format varies from region to region, so changing them to match your region can help you keep track of appointments and deadlines more efficiently.
Change language, date, and time format in Outlook
As mentioned above, changing Outlook’s language, date, and time format can be a personal preference, region, or job requirement.
Whatever the case, the steps below show you how to do that.
First, open the new Outlook app on Windows 11.
You can do that by clicking Start -> All app -> Outlook app. Or use the Start menu search box to search for Outlook and open it.

When the app opens, click the Settings
button (gear on the top right) to proceed.

On the Settings page, click the General
tab on the left sidebar and select Language and time
on the right.

On the Language and time setting page, select the language you want to use with Outlook using the drop-down caret.

The language you select will usually automatically update the date and time format. For example, the default date format for the English (United Kingdom) language will be yyyy–dd-mm (2024-09-01) to represent September 1, 2024.
Additional options for a specific language are:
- d/m/yy (1/9/24)
- dd/mm/yyyy (01/09/2024)
- dd/mm/yy (01/09/24)
- d.m.yy (1.9.24)

For the same English (United Kingdom) language, the default time format representing a 12-hour display is hr:mm AM/PM (1:01 AM – 11:59 PM).
Additional options available are:
- hh:mm – hh:mm (24-hour display)
- h:m – h:m (24-hour display)
- hh:mm (12-hour display)
- h:m (12-hour display)

Make your selection and save your changes by clicking the Save button at the bottom when you’re done.
That should do it!
