Windows 11 allows you to change your Password if you can not remember your current Password. This can be done quickly if you create a password hint and have an online account.

Resetting passwords in Windows works similarly to that of any other system. Usually, you type in password hints when settings are creating new passwords. If you forget, complete the password hints and reset it.

Learning how to reset passwords in Windows 11 can be important when you forget your Password and can’t log into your computer. It can also be helpful when you want to change your Password for security reasons or simply because you want to use a different password.

By knowing how to reset passwords in Windows 11, you can regain access to your computer and ensure that your data and personal information are safe and secure.

Change your Password in Windows 11

If you know your Password, simply follow the steps below to change it.

Select Start and go to Settings, as shown in the image below.

In the System setting page, go to Accounts Sign-in options. The Sign-in option allows you to reset passwords, security keys, Windows Hello, and others.

Under Password, select the Change button and follow the steps.

Follow the steps to change your current Password. You’ll be prompted to type in your current Password. If you do not know your current, you won’t be able to change it.

Complete the password change process, and you’re done.

Reset your Password in Windows 11

If you’ve forgotten or lost your Windows 11 password for a local account and need to sign back into your computer, continue below to learn how to reset your password and gain access.

For all Windows 11 editions, internet access is required to perform updates, download, and take advantage of some features. A Microsoft account is required for some features.

For some Windows 11 devices, internet and Microsoft accounts will be required for password change and reset. You can reset your Microsoft account online using the registered and signed-in email address.

If you sign in with a local account, then use the steps below:

On the login screen, please type the Password you think is correct. Select the Reset password link on the sign-in screen if it returns as incorrect.

At the reset link, enter the security questions provided. This will be the same you answered when you first set up your machine.

  • Answer your security questions.
  • Enter a new password.
  • Sign in as usual with the new Password.

Reset your computer

If you still can’t answer the security questions above, you can’t reset your Microsoft online account, and you are still unable to log in, another option will be to reset your device.

Resetting your device will permanently delete your data, programs, and settings.

To reset your device, which will delete data, programs, and settings:

  1. Press the Shift key while you select the Power button > Restart in the lower-right corner of the screen.
  2. On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot Reset this PC.
  3. Select Remove Everything.

That should get you back into your machine.
