How to Uninstall and Reinstall Widgets in Windows 11

Widgets Widgets are small windows that show you things like news, weather, stocks, and traffic. They appear on your Windows 11 Taskbar. Sometimes, you might want to stop them from popping up when you move your mouse, so you can will not automatically display the Widgets boards. If you never use them, you can also completely uninstall or remove the Widgets feature in Windows 11.

Why do this? If your Widgets are acting buggy or won’t open, removing and adding them back is a great way to fix the problem.

What happens when done? Your Widgets board will be fresh and clean, which usually fixes any display or loading errors you were having.

Uninstall Widgets in Windows 11

If your Widgets are broken, you can remove them using the Terminal. You will need admin privileges for this.

  1. Open the Windows Terminal app as an administrator.
  2. Select the Windows PowerShell or Command Prompt tab.
  3. Type the following command and press Enter:
  4. winget uninstall "windows web experience pack"
  5. Restart your computer.

This completely removes the Widgets feature from your system.

Reinstall Widgets in Windows 11

Once your computer starts back up, you can add Widgets back to your PC.

  1. Open your web browser and go to this link: Windows Web Experience Pack.
  2. Microsoft Store page for downloading the Windows Web Experience Pack
  3. This will open the Microsoft Store app.
  4. Click the Get button to install the app.
  5. Restart your computer again.

When you log back in, your Widgets should be working like new.
