The Phone Link app lets you instantly access your Android or iPhone apps from your PC. Then, using a Wi-Fi connection or Bluetooth connection, browse, play, order, chat, and more — all while using your PC’s larger screen and keyboard.

While a Wi-Fi connection is optimal, you can turn on syncing the Phone Link apps when not connected to Wi-Fi. Mobile charges may apply when using your mobile data to sync apps.

Here’s how to turn on or off syncing Phone Link apps without a Wi-Fi connection in Windows 11.

Allow my app to sync over mobile data when I’m not connected to Wi-Fi

As mentioned above, the recommended way to sync your Windows device to your mobile phone using the Phone Link app is a Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or Instant Hotspot connection.

Howerver, you can choose to sync your apps when you are not connected to Wi-Fi. Below is how to do that.

First, open the Phone Link app.

Then choose to add your phone. If phones are connected to the Phone Link app, click the Settings button (gear) at the top right corner and select the General tab.

Under Connection optimization, toggle the button for “Allow my app to sync over mobile data when I’m not connected to Wi-Fi” to the On position to enable.

To turn it off, toggle the button back to the Off position.

Save your changes and exit.

Turn on or off app sync over mobile data with Phone Link on a mobile device

You can also turn on or off this feature using your mobile device.

To do that, use the steps below.

Pull down the curtain to show settings on your mobile device (Phone). Then press and hold down the Windows Phone Link icon to take you to its settings page.

In the In Link to Windows settings, toggle the Use mobile data button turn On or Off (default).

Exit the setting screen, and you are done.
