Microsoft Teams is a popular app for chatting, video calls, and meetings. By default, it uses your Outlook calendar. However, you can also connect your Google account to bring your contacts into one place. This guide shows you how to sync your Google contacts with Microsoft Teams on Windows 11.

Why sync your contacts?

Syncing your contacts makes it much easier to find people. You won’t have to switch between different apps to start a chat or a meeting. Having your contact info ready inside Teams helps you stay organized and get more work done.

What happens when done?

Once you finish these steps, your Google contacts will appear inside your Microsoft Teams app. You can then quickly call or message them without leaving the platform.

You can connect your Google calendar, turn the camera and mic on or off on the lock screen, turn read receipts on or off, auto start Teams, disable Teams chat, and more.

Click the Sync link for Google. If you are syncing from a phone, scan the QR code that appears on your screen to let the app access your contacts.

Note: You do not need special admin privileges to perform these steps as they are handled within your personal user profile settings. However, if you are using a managed work computer, your organization might restrict these settings via group policies, such as those found in C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy. If you cannot see these options, contact your IT department.

If you ever want to stop, you can turn off syncing in the same menu. To remove all Google data from Microsoft services entirely, visit Privacy settings..

Summary

Syncing your Google contacts with Microsoft Teams is a simple way to keep your communication tools connected. By bringing your address book into Teams, you save time and make it easier to reach your colleagues and friends. You can manage or remove these connections at any time through the Settings menu.
