How to Disable OneDrive Personal Vault
Disabling OneDrive Personal Vault removes the extra security layer for your sensitive files in OneDrive for Windows 10 and 11.
Personal Vault is a special, protected folder inside OneDrive that needs a second step, like a fingerprint or PIN, to open.
This feature helps keep your most important documents safe, even if someone gets into your main account. It’s designed to protect your private information.
Keep in mind that turning off Personal Vault deletes everything inside it forever. Make sure to save any files you need before you disable it.
Go to your OneDrive account page online, click the gear icon for Settings, then Options, and select Personal Vault. Verify your identity and click the Disable link, then confirm again. Remember that disabling Personal Vault permanently deletes all files within it.

- Select Personal Vault from the menu on the left side of the screen.

Summary
When you disable your OneDrive Personal Vault, all its files are permanently deleted and can’t be recovered. Make sure to move anything you want to keep out first.
Is OneDrive Personal Vault necessary?
OneDrive Personal Vault provides an extra layer of security by using Two-Factor Authentication, which helps ensure only you can access your critical information. Microsoft 365 Basic, Personal, and Family subscribers previously could only store a small number of files in their Personal Vault.
Is it okay to delete personal vault?
Can I delete the Personal Vault? OneDrive Personal Vault itself cannot be deleted as a feature; it is part of OneDrive Personal and is tied to the Microsoft account. However, it can be left empty, locked, and unused so it no longer affects files or sync.
