How to Play Phone Sound on Mobile from Windows 11

What You’ll Need

Phone link play sound features require a Windows 11 PC, a compatible Android phone, and an active connection through the Phone Link app. Both your computer and your mobile device must connect to the same Wi-Fi 📶 network. Set up the app and link both devices before you try to play audio or ring your phone.

Option 1Finding Your Phone Through the Phone Link App

This is the most direct way to make your phone ring. The Phone Link app helps you manage how your phone connects to your PC.

Step 1Open the Phone Link App

Type “Phone Link” into the Windows search bar 🔍 and open the app.

Step 2Find the “Play Sound” Button

In the Phone Link app, look on the left side of the window. You’ll see information about your phone. Near the top, click the “Play sound” button.

Step 3Confirm You Want to Play the Sound

A small confirmation message might pop up. Click Play sound again to confirm the action.

Step 4Listen for Your Phone!

Your phone rings loudly for 20 seconds when you use the "Find my phone" feature. If you find your phone before the ringing stops, tapping the "Link to Windows" notification on your phone will stop the ringing.

Step 5Acknowledge and Search

When the sound stops, or you stop it, you'll likely see a message on your PC in the Phone Link app. Click "Got it" or a similar button. If you still haven't found your phone, take a breath and keep looking. You've done all you can from the PC!

Option 2Finding Your Phone Through Windows Settings

Step 1Open Windows Settings

Press Win + I on your keyboard to open the Settings app on your Windows 11 PC.

Step 2Go to Mobile Devices

In the Settings app, click "Bluetooth & devices" in the menu on the left. Then, on the right side, click "Mobile devices."

Step 3Select Your Linked Phone

Phone link play sound setups require you to choose your specific device from the app dashboard. Open the Phone Link app on your Windows 11 PC and look at the mobile devices section. Click the name of your Android phone in the list to connect it. If your phone does not appear, check your settings to make sure your computer has permission to access your mobile device.

If your phone is missing from the list, verify that 'Allow this PC to access content and capabilities from your mobile devices' is toggled on in the app settings.

Step 4Trigger the Ring

Now that you're on the settings page for your phone, scroll down to the "Controls" section. Click the "Ring now" button.

Step 5Stop the Sound When Found

Like with the Phone Link app, your phone will ring for about 20 seconds. As soon as you hear it and find your phone, click the "Stop playing sound" button in the same "Controls" section. This stops the ringing.

Step 6Close Settings

Once you have your phone and the sound has stopped, you can close the Settings app. Your task is done!
