How to Manage Automatic Screen Recording in Snipping Tool
You manage automatic screen recording in Windows 11’s Snipping Tool by adjusting a specific setting within the app itself.
The Snipping Tool is your go-to built-in Windows application for capturing screenshots and recording your screen’s activity, including optional system audio.
Since Windows 11, version 22H2, recordings automatically save to a dedicated folder. You can easily disable this auto-save feature if you want more manual control over where your captured content goes.
Open Snipping Tool, click the three dots, select Settings, then find “Automatically save screen recordings” under the Screen recording section and toggle the switch. This allows you to control whether recordings are saved automatically.
Does the Snipping Tool automatically save screen recordings?
Screenshots are copied to your clipboard and saved in Pictures > Screenshots (if auto-save is enabled). Screen recordings are saved in Videos > Screen Recordings.
