How to Disable Lock Screen Notifications in Windows 11
Windows 11 shows alerts on your lock screen by default. These might include emails, messages, or system updates. While helpful, they can reveal private information to anyone passing by your computer.
Why hide these alerts?
If you work in a public space or share your computer, you may not want your personal messages popping up on the screen before you even log in. Disabling these keeps your information private.
What happens when you are done?
Once you follow these steps, your lock screen will no longer display notification previews. You will still get your alerts once you sign in to your user account.
Steps to turn off lock screen notifications
You can manage these settings easily through the Windows Settings menu. No special administrator privileges are required for this change.
- Open the Settings app. You can do this by pressing the Windows key + I on your keyboard or by clicking the Start button and selecting Settings. %%LNK0%%

- Once the Settings window is open, click on System in the left menu. Then, click on Notifications on the right side of the screen.

- Click the small arrow next to Notifications to expand the list of options.
- Find the checkbox labeled Show notifications on the lock screen and uncheck it.

You can now close the settings window. Your changes will apply right away.

Summary
Managing your lock screen privacy is a simple task in Windows 11. By unchecking the notification box in your system settings, you prevent sensitive information from appearing on your screen when the computer is locked. This helps keep your data safe and gives you a cleaner, distraction-free login experience. If you ever need to see these alerts again, just follow the same steps to re-enable them.
