This guide explains how to show or hide helpful tips and fun facts on your Windows 11 lock screen.

Users will see a lock screen when they turn on their computers or lock them when they are away. This feature helps save battery life and protects you from others accessing your files and programs.

Windows allows users to enable or disable local screen notifications, change the background, and more. Why use this? It turns a plain screen into a source of quick information. What happens when done? Your lock screen will display helpful hints or trivia whenever your computer is locked.

How to change your lock screen settings

To change these settings, you need to access the Windows Settings menu. You can do this by pressing the Windows key + I on your keyboard, or by clicking Start then Settings.

Alternatively, you can type “Settings” into the search box on your taskbar and click to open it.

Once you are in the Settings menu:

  1. Click on Personalization in the left menu.
  2. Select the Lock screen box on the right side of the screen.

On the Lock screen page, look for the section labeled Personalize your lock screen. You must select either Picture or Slideshow from the dropdown menu to enable the extra options.

Once you select one of those options, you will see a checkbox for “Get fun facts, tips, tricks, and more on your lock screen.” Check this box to turn the feature on, or uncheck it to turn it off. You do not need admin privileges for these steps.

You can now close the Settings window. Your changes will take effect immediately.

Summary

You can easily customize your Windows 11 lock screen to show or hide helpful tips and trivia. By navigating to Personalization > Lock screen and choosing Picture or Slideshow, you can toggle the fun facts feature on or off to suit your personal preference.
