How to Exit S Mode in Windows 11

This guide explains how to leave S Mode on your Windows 11 computer.

Some computers come with  Windows 11 Home pre-installed in S Mode. This version is designed for extra security and speed. However, it limits you to only using apps from the Microsoft Store. If you need to install programs from the internet or other sources, you must leave S Mode.

Why do this? You want to install software that is not available in the Microsoft Store.

What happens when done? You will have a standard version of Windows 11. You can install any app you want, but you cannot go back to S Mode. This change is permanent.

How to Exit S Mode

Follow these steps to change your settings. Note: This process requires an administrator account.
