The post provides a guide on how to display additional account details such as email addresses on the sign-in screen in Windows 11. This feature helps to identify accounts, especially in a system with multiple users. The post also explains how to disable this option if one decides not to show these additional details later.

This post shows students and new users steps to show additional account details like email addresses on the sign-in screen when using Windows 11. By default, Windows only shows your username on the sign-in screen. The steps below will show you how to show additional details.

If you sign in with your Microsoft account to Windows, you can also show your email address and your username. This unique detail identifies your Account on the sign-in screen.

This may be useful on a multi-account system with multiple user accounts on the sign-in screen. If you don’t remember the username associated with your Account, an email address may help you identify it.

Follow the steps below to show more account details on the sign-in screen.

How to show email address on sign-in screen on Windows 11

As mentioned, one can show additional account details on the sign-in screen when using Windows 11.

Below is how to do that.

Windows 11 has a centralized location for the majority of its settings app. From system configurations to creating new users and updating Windows, all can be done from the System Settings pane.

To get to System Settings, you can use the Windows key + I shortcut or click on Start ==> Settings, as shown in the image below:

Alternatively, you can use the search box on the taskbar and search for Settings. Then select to open it.

Windows Settings pane should look similar to the image below. In Windows Settings, click Accounts, and select Sign-in options on the right pane of your screen, shown in the image below.

On the Sign-in options pane, under Additional settings, toggle the button on the tile to the On position for “Show account details such as my email address on the sign-in screen.” to enable.

That should enable additional account details on the sign-in screen.

How to disable account details on the sign-in screen

Suppose you change your mind about the changes above. In that case, you can simply turn it off by reversing the steps above and going to the Start menu ==> Settings ==> Account ==> Sign-in options ==> and toggle the button on the tile to the Off position for “Show account details such as my email address on the sign-in screen.” to turn off.

That should turn it off.
