How to Launch Windows Terminal in the Center of Your Screen (Windows 11)
You can launch Windows Terminal in the center of your screen on Windows 11 by adjusting its settings.
Windows Terminal is your all-in-one command-line solution, capable of running Command Prompt, PowerShell, and even Linux environments via WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux).
By default, Windows Terminal opens near the left edge. A quick settings change will put it right in the middle of your screen.
This makes finding and focusing on your Terminal sessions much faster, especially on larger monitors.
Launch Windows Terminal in the center by opening Settings, navigating to Appearance, expanding Launch parameters, and toggling on “Center on launch.” Save your changes to make it the default.
How to Make Windows Terminal Open in the Center
Step 1Open Windows Terminal
Click the Start menu (the Windows icon in the bottom left corner). Type Terminal in the search box. Then click on Windows Terminal from the results.

Step 2Open Terminal Settings
Once Terminal opens, find the small down arrow (˅) next to the plus (+) tab button in the top bar. Click it, then choose Settings from the menu that appears. You can also press Ctrl + , (comma) on your keyboard.

Step 3Find the Launch Settings
In the Settings window, click on Appearance on the left side menu. After expanding the section called Launch parameters, you’ll see the option to Center on launch.
Step 4Turn on “Center on launch”
Look for the option named Center on launch. Toggle the switch so it turns On.

Step 5Save Your Changes
Scroll to the bottom and click the Save button. Now, when you open Windows Terminal, it will appear right in the middle of your screen!
Why Center the Terminal Window?
- It makes your screen look neat and organized.
- It’s easier to find and use the Terminal, especially if you have a large monitor.
- You can quickly access commands without hunting for the window on the side.
Summary
You can easily make Windows Terminal open right in the middle of your screen by changing a simple setting. This helps keep your workspace tidy and makes the Terminal window easier to find when you need it.
