This article explains how to turn text message notifications on or off in Windows 11’s Phone Link feature.
What is Phone Link?
The Phone Link app is a Windows feature that lets you link your phone and PC using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. You can access your phone’s apps and data right from your PC. It lets you browse, play, order, chat, and do much more. You use your PC’s bigger screen and keyboard while your phone stays in your pocket or on your desk.
When your phone is connected to your PC, you can choose how to display notifications, choose to hear audio from the PC or phone, turn allow the phone link app to sync over mobile without Wi-Fi on or off, unlink your phone from Windows, enable or disable auto startup for the phone link app, send and receive text messages from the app, add or remove Phone Link on the widgets board, turn dark mode on or off, open your phone screen in the app, turn show notifications for all my apps on or off, show notifications in the Phone Link feature feed, enable or disable using Phone Link with Windows suggestions, open Phone Link notification banners in the mobile app or Phone Link, and more.
Why Control Text Message Notifications?
By default, Phone Link shows your text messages in the notification banners. You can turn this on or off depending on your preference.
When this feature is on, you see text messages pop up as notifications. You can reply to them right from your PC without picking up your phone.
When this feature is off, you won’t see these notifications. You’ll need to check your phone directly for new messages. Turning it off also stops sending and receiving MMS attachments, notification banners, and taskbar badges for messages.
How to Turn Text Message Notifications On or Off
- Open the Phone Link app.
- Choose to add your phone. If your phone is already connected to Phone Link, click the Settings button (gear icon) at the top right. Then select Features from the menu.

- On the right side under Notifications, find the tile that says “Allow Phone Link to show text message from my mobile device.”
- Toggle the switch to the On position to enable text message notifications. Toggle it to the Off position to disable them.

That’s all there is to it!

The Phone Link feature in Windows 11 lets you see and reply to text messages from your PC. You control whether these messages show up as notifications by changing one simple setting.
