How to Enable or Disable Copilot Theme in Microsoft Edge on Windows 11

Microsoft Edge includes a special look called the Copilot theme. This guide explains how to turn this visual style on or off for your user account.

Why use the Copilot theme?

The Copilot theme changes the colors and layout of your browser to match the AI-powered Copilot experience. It is designed to make your browser feel more modern and integrated with AI tools. You might want to turn it off if you prefer the classic look of Microsoft Edge.

What happens when you are done?

Once you change this setting, your browser will either adopt the Copilot-inspired color scheme or revert to your default browser theme. If you manually pick a different theme later, the Copilot theme will automatically turn off.

How to change your Copilot theme settings

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.
  2. Click the Settings and more menu (the three dots in the top right corner, or press Alt+F), then click Settings.
  1. Click on AI innovations in the menu on the left.
  2. Click on Copilot Mode preferences in the main window.

Note: You must have Copilot Mode turned on for the Copilot Mode preferences option to appear. If you do not see the left menu, click the three-bar menu button at the top left or stretch your browser window wider.

Summary

The Copilot theme is a cosmetic setting in Microsoft Edge. You can find it under Settings > AI innovations > Copilot Mode preferences. Simply toggle the switch to enable or disable the look. No administrative privileges are required to change this setting as it only affects your personal user profile.
