How to Install Additional Languages in Voice Access for Windows 11

If you want to control your Windows 11 PC using your voice, Voice Access is a helpful tool that lets you speak commands and type text without using the keyboard or mouse.

Voice Access lets you open apps, move around your computer, and do many things just by talking.

When you first turn on Voice Access, Windows will ask you to download language files so it can understand your speech better.

At the beginning, only US English was available. Now, you can add several English versions, including:

  • English – US
  • English – UK
  • English – India
  • English – New Zealand
  • English – Canada
  • English – Australia

Windows will check your computer’s main language and suggest options. But if you want to add or switch to another language, follow the easy steps below!

Steps to Install a New Language for Voice Access

  1. Turn on Voice Access.

  2. Once Voice Access is running, you will see a small toolbar at the top of your screen.
  3. Click the Settings icon (it looks like a gear) on this toolbar.
  4. In the menu, find and click on the Language section to open it.
  5. Look under “Available for Download”. You will see a list of languages you can add.
  6. Choose the language you want to install by clicking on it.

A pop-up will appear at the top of your screen with a Download button.

Click Download and wait a few minutes for the language pack to install.

Once downloaded, the language will be ready to use with Voice Access right away.

You can switch languages any time by going back to Voice Access Settings > Languages.

That’s it! Now you can speak to your PC in the English dialect you prefer.
