How to clear your Clipboard history in Windows 11
Clipboard history in Windows 11 saves your last 25 copied items, including text, images, and links, in a hidden cache. Pressing the Win+V opens this panel so you can paste past items instead of just your most recent copy.
Clearing this history removes stored passwords, private notes, and sensitive files from the list so nobody else can see them.
Open Clipboard History with Win+V, then click “Clear all” at the top. Alternatively, go to Settings System Clipboard and click the “Clear” button under “Clear clipboard data.
How to Clear Your Clipboard History
Two methods clear out this stored data when sensitive information lingers.
Method 1Using the Settings App
The Settings app clears the entire clipboard history in Windows 11. Turning on cloud sync removes synced items across linked devices simultaneously. Opening Settings happens by clicking the Start button and then the Settings cog, or by pressing the Win and the letter I together.
- Open Settings : Click the Start button (the Windows icon, usually in the bottom-left corner). Then click the Settings cog icon. You can also press the Win+I on your keyboard.
- Go to System: In the Settings window, click on System.
- Find Clipboard: On the left side, scroll down and click on Clipboard.
- Clear Your Data: Look for a section that says “Clear clipboard data”. Click the Clear button.

Method 2Clearing Directly from Clipboard History
The history panel provides a quick route for clearing stored content. Pressing the Win and the letter I together reveals everything copied during the current session. Selecting the ‘Clear all’ button at the top of the clipboard history window wipes all saved entries simultaneously.
- Open Clipboard History: Press the Win+V on your keyboard. This shows a list of what you’ve copied.
- Find ‘Clear all’: At the top of the clipboard history list, you should see an option that says Clear all. Click it.
- Confirm (if asked): Windows might ask if you’re sure. If it does, click Confirm or Yes.

Clearing Individual Items
Targeted deletion removes single entries without wiping the entire clipboard history in Windows 11. Selecting a specific entry helps secure confidential data immediately after copying. Pressing the Win and the letter V opens the clipboard history so individual targets undergo deletion.
- Open Clipboard History: Press Windows key + V.
- Find the Item: Scroll through the list to find the item you want to remove.
- Select 'See more' or '...': Next to the item, click the three dots (...) or the 'See more' option.
- Choose 'Delete': A small menu will appear. Click Delete.
