How to Enable Tab Preview on Hover in Microsoft Edge

This guide explains how to control the “Show tab preview on hover” feature in Microsoft Edge.

Microsoft Edge Microsoft Edge browser is the web browser built into Windows 11. You can also  switch to their preferred or favorite browser if you would rather use a different browser. Edge uses the same foundation as Google Chrome, so it feels fast and familiar.

Why use tab previews?

When you have many tabs open, it is easy to lose track of what is on each page. Tab previews let you see a small snapshot of a website just by resting your mouse cursor over the tab. This saves you from clicking on every single tab to find the right one.

What happens when done?

Once you change this setting, Edge will immediately show or hide a small window when you hover your mouse over an open tab. This makes managing multiple websites much faster.

How to change the tab preview setting

You do not need special permissions for these steps. You can change this setting using your standard user account.

  1. Open the Microsoft Edge browser.
  2. Click the Settings and more button (the three horizontal dots) in the top right corner.
  3. Select Settings from the menu.
