This article explains how to set up a Microsoft account Passkey using a Security Key.
A passkey is a security mechanism restricting access to a system or device. Passkeys are commonly used to secure computers, smartphones, and other electronic devices and protect sensitive data and information.
You can use a passkey to sign in to Microsoft apps and websites, including Microsoft 365 and Copilot on desktop and mobile browsers. On your Microsoft account sign-in screen, use your passkey by choosing the Sign-in options and then selecting face, fingerprint, PIN, or security key.
Microsoft has recently added support for FIDO security key that you can use with Passkey to protect your Microsoft account.
A FIDO security device is a physical security key that provides an added layer of security to your online accounts. It requires you to physically plug the device into your computer or mobile device and verify your identity with a fingerprint or a PIN code before accessing your account.
