How to Enable Close Tabs Prompt in Microsoft Edge
This article explains how to turn on or off a prompt in Microsoft Edge. The prompt asks before you close a window with multiple tabs open.
Microsoft Edge is the default browser in Windows 11. However, users can switch to their preferred or favorite browser anytime. Edge is based on Chromium, similar to Google Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers.
By default, when you close an Edge window with multiple tabs, you get a prompt. It asks: “Do you want to close all tabs?” You can then select Close all or Cancel.
Why does this matter? This feature prevents you from accidentally closing important tabs when you only meant to close one tab. This feature is on by default. However, you can turn it off if you prefer.
What happens if you disable it? Edge will close all tabs without asking you first. This can mean losing your work or important information.
If you notice you are not getting a prompt when closing a window with multiple tabs, follow the steps below to turn it back on.
