This article explains how to turn on or off plugins for Copilot in Windows 11.
Starting with Windows 11 build 23493, Microsoft rolled out the new Copilot experience that works with Bing Chat AI, allowing users to interact with the chatbot using natural language to change system settings and work across multiple applications.
For computers that have Copilot added, a new Copilot button will appear on the Taskbar. It will appear as a flyout interface when you press the button or use the keyboard shortcut (Windows key + C).
When Copilot is available on your device, you can pin or unpin the side pane, open Copilot when Windows starts, Turn Copilot on or off, enable or disable Copilot using content from Edge, refresh Copilot prompts, resize the Copilot side pane, delete recent activity, and more.
Microsoft recently announced that they are embracing an open standard for plugins that integrates across OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Copilot offerings, including Bing Chat, Dynamics 365 Copilot, Windows Copilot, and Microsoft 365 Copilot.
With this news, several plugins have been created that can be integrated with Copilot on Windows. Your installed plugins will be listed under the Plugins tab on the Copilot sidebar pane.
Plugins in Copilot can add additional functionality and features to the Copilot experience. However, some users may prefer a simpler interface or may not need certain plugins for their workflow. Turning plugins on or off allows users to customize their Copilot experience to fit their needs and preferences.
Turn plugins on or off in Copilot
As mentioned above, users who installed plugins for Copilot can turn them on or off at any time.
Here’s how to do it.
First, open the Windows Copilot or press the keyboard shortcut (Win+C).
When the Copilot side pane opens, select the “Plugins” (blocks) button at the top right corner.
Next, locate a plugin on the list under ‘Plugins‘ and toggle the switch button to the On position to enable it.
To disable it, toggle the switch button to the Off position.
Turning off Search will disable all plugins.
That should do it!
