Manage Kids Mode Websites in Microsoft Edge
This article explains how to manage the websites your child can visit in Kids Mode. The Microsoft Edge browser is the standard browser for Windows 11 and 12 in 2026. Users can switch to their preferred or favorite browser if they prefer a different program. Edge includes a Kids Mode feature to help keep children safe online.
Why use Kids Mode? It creates a protected space for children to explore the web. It filters out inappropriate content and limits access to approved sites only. What happens when done? Your child will have a safer browsing experience tailored to their needs.
Please note that some advanced Kids Mode configurations are managed through the centralized Microsoft Family Safety web portal. You may need to visit that portal for broader account-level safety settings.
Add or remove websites from the allowed list in Microsoft Edge
When a child tries to visit a site that isn’t allowed, they will see a block page. You have two choices here:
- Allow for this session: This gives your child one-time access to the site. It does not save the site to the permanent list.
- Add to allowed list: This permanently adds the site to your child’s approved list so they can visit it again later.
To add a site, select Get permission on the block page. The device owner must enter their password. This prevents children from bypassing safety filters.
First, open Kids Mode in Edge. When you see a site you want to add, click the button to grant permission.

Managing the list
You can also manage your list manually. To start, open the Microsoft Edge browser. Click the three horizontal dots in the top right corner and select Settings.
On the left menu, click Family.

On this screen, you can click Add website to type in a new URL. To remove a site, click the X next to the address. You can also switch between age-appropriate content levels, such as 6-8 or 9-12, within these settings to adjust the automatic filtering sensitivity.
That is all there is to it!

Conclusion
Managing the allowed list gives you control over your child’s digital world. It ensures they only see content that is right for their age. These steps make it easy to update your list whenever your child’s interests change.
