This article explains enabling or disabling “Open Bing Chat in Edge” and “Find results in Web” with Windows Search in Windows 11.

The Windows Search box is automatically added to the Taskbar, ready to help you find whatever you want. Use the search box to find your apps, files, settings, help, and more on Windows or the cloud.

You can also use Search to find files and people in your work or school organization through  Microsoft Search.

When you start typing into the Search Box, suggestions will appear, helping you get to what you’re looking for faster. Search results from Bing Chat, All, Apps, Documents, Web, Settings, People, Folders, or Photos will appear.

Here’s how to show or hide the “Open Bing Chat in Edge” and “Find results in Web” icons in the Windows Search gleam or Start menu.

Show or hide the “Open Bing Chat in Edge” and “Find results in Web” on the Start menu and Windows Search

As mentioned above, users can show or hide the “Open Bing Chat in Edge and “Fine results in Web” on the Start menu and Windows Search gleam.

Disabling the “Open Bing Chat in Edge” and “Find results in Web” icons in Windows Search will also disable Search Highlights.

Here’s how to do it.

First, open the Windows Registry, and navigate to the folder key below.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search

If you don’t see the Search folder key, right-click on the CurrentVersion key, then create the subkey (Search) folders.

Right-click the Search folder key’s right pane and select New -> DWORD (32-bit) Value. Next, type a new key named BingSearchEnabled.

Double-click the new key item name (BingSearchEnabled) and make sure the Base option is Decimal, and then update the Value data:

  • Type 1 to enable this feature.
  • Type 0 to disable this feature.

Alternatively, you can disable search box suggestions which will also disable the “Open Bing Chat in Edge” and “Fine results in Web” features.

Go back to the Windows Registry Editor and follow the folder keys below:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer

If you don’t see the Explorer folder key, right-click on the Windows key, then create the subkey (Explorer) folders.

Right-click the Explorer folder key’s right pane and select New -> DWORD (32-bit) Value. Next, type a new key named DisableSearchBoxSuggestions.

Double-click the new key item name (DisableSearchBoxSuggestions) and make sure the Base option is Decimal, and then update the Value data:

  • Type 1 to enable this feature.
  • Type 0 to disable this feature.

Then, save your changes and restart your computer. You can also restart Windows Explorer to apply the changes above.

That should do it!
