This article explains how to refresh and sync your browser data from Microsoft’s cloud servers in Microsoft Edge. By 2026, Edge has become the central hub for your digital life. Resetting your sync data now also clears AI-related preferences and chat history stored in the cloud.

Why do this? If your bookmarks or passwords are not showing up on other devices, a reset can fix the connection. What happens when done? Your cloud data is wiped clean, and your current browser data is uploaded fresh to Microsoft’s servers.

The Microsoft Edge browser is the default browser in Windows 11 and 12. However, users can  switch to their preferred or favorite browser anytime. Edge is based on Chromium. This makes it very similar to Google Chrome.

Users can sign in with their personal or school/work accounts and sync their browsing data across all their devices. Microsoft Edge syncs your favorites, passwords, history, and AI chat history across your devices.

Conclusion

Knowing how to reset your sync data is a great way to keep your browsing experience smooth. It clears out errors and updates your AI preferences across your devices. If you are using a managed “Edge for Business” account, please note that your IT department may have disabled the “Reset sync” feature for security reasons. If the button is greyed out, contact your company’s IT support team for help.
