How to Create Microsoft Account Aliases
This guide explains how to add an alias to your Microsoft account. An alias is simply a new email address or phone number that connects to your current account.
A Microsoft account is what you use to sign in to services like Skype, Outlook, and OneDrive.
Once you have an account, you can change your account name, reset your password, manage devices in your account, and more.
Why create an alias?
You might want an alias to keep your logins organized. Maybe you want a separate email for work and a different one for gaming. Even though the names are different, they all use the same password and share your storage and settings.
What happens when you are done?
After you finish, you can use your new email or phone number to sign in to any Microsoft service. You can also pick this new alias as your main login name.
How to add an alias
This guide assumes you already have a Microsoft account. If you do not, check out this guide: How to create a Microsoft account..
Follow these steps to manage your aliases:
- Go to the official management page: https://account.live.com/names/Manage.
- Click the Add email link. If you prefer to use a phone number, select Add phone number instead.

- Type in your new email address or phone number.
- Click the Add alias button to save it.

If the name is already taken, you will see an error message. If it is available, it will be added to your account immediately.
You can now choose to make this new alias your primary sign-in method. You can also use it to sign in to Windows and other devices.

Summary
Creating a Microsoft account alias gives you extra flexibility. It allows you to use multiple email addresses or phone numbers to access your account while keeping all your data and settings in one place. It is a secure and simple way to manage how you sign in to your favorite Microsoft services.
