How to Enable Read Receipts in Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a popular app used for chatting, video calls, and working with others. Sometimes, you may want to know if someone has seen your message. Conversely, you might want to keep your reading habits private.

Why use Read Receipts?

Read receipts show a small icon when your message has been viewed by the recipient. Enabling this feature lets others know you have seen their message, which can help prevent unnecessary follow-up questions. Disabling it gives you more privacy if you want to read messages without notifying the sender immediately.

What happens when done?

Once you change this setting, your status will update across all your Teams devices. If turned on, people will see when you read their chats. If turned off, they will no longer see that notification.

How to Enable or Disable Read Receipts

Follow these simple steps to change your privacy settings in Microsoft Teams.

  1. Open the Start menu and find Microsoft Teams in your All Apps list to launch it.
