This guide explains how to automatically move your photos and videos from your camera to your Dropbox account on Windows 11.

Dropbox is a service that saves your files online. It keeps your data safe and allows you to access it from any device.

Why enable camera uploads?

Enabling this feature saves you time. You will not have to manually move files from your camera to your computer. It also helps you clear space on your device by moving media to the cloud.

What happens when done?

Once finished, every time you plug your camera or phone into your computer, your photos and videos will automatically start uploading to your secure online storage.

Dropbox lets you choose to upload only photos or both photos and videos. You can manage these settings by visiting starting Dropbox on system startup, disabling Dropbox startup in the background, adding Microsoft Office add-in, turning notifications on or off, managing backups, automatic backups on or off, renaming backup device name, changing backup frequency, choosing back up folders, and moving backup folder location.

How to import your photos and videos

First, you need to tell Windows to use Dropbox when you plug in a device. You must change Windows’ Auto Play behavior to allow this. Follow these steps to change your AutoPlay settings:

  1. Click the Start button and open Settings.
  2. Go to Bluetooth & devices, then click on AutoPlay.
  3. Under “Choose AutoPlay defaults,” find your device and select Import photos and videos (Dropbox).

Summary

By setting up automatic uploads, you ensure your memories are backed up without extra effort. You can manage your preferences through the Windows AutoPlay menu and the Dropbox Preferences tab. This setup ensures that your files are safe, organized, and accessible from anywhere.
