You can switch to their preferred or favorite browser whenever you want. Edge works very similarly to Google Chrome.
Microsoft now lets you share your browsing history with other parts of Windows. Why? This helps your computer learn your habits. It makes search results and AI suggestions in your taskbar more useful to you.
What happens when you turn this on? Windows uses your history, favorites, and open tabs to help you find information faster. If you turn it off, Windows stops using this data and deletes the information it already gathered.
How to change your browsing data settings
You can find this setting by typing “Share browsing data” into the Search box in the Settings menu. You can also follow this path: Settings > Profiles > Share browsing data with other Windows features.

Follow these simple steps:
- Open the Microsoft Edge browser.
- Click the three dots icon in the top right corner.
- Select Settings.
- Click Profiles on the left side of the screen.
- Select Share browsing data with other Windows features on the right side.

On this screen, flip the switch to On or Off based on your choice.

Close the browser settings window when you are done.
Important Note for Work or School Computers
If you use a computer provided by your job or school, you might not be able to change these settings. If the options are grayed out, it means your IT department has locked them. They use tools like Group Policy or Intune to manage these settings for security reasons. You would need admin privileges or assistance from your IT team to modify these if they are restricted.
Summary
Sharing your browsing data helps Windows provide better AI suggestions and faster search results. You can easily turn this feature on or off through the Edge Profile settings. Managing these settings helps you decide how much data you want to share for the sake of convenience versus your personal privacy.
