How to Manage Phone Number Visibility in Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams is a popular tool for chatting, video calls, and working with your team. You can connect many services like Google calendar, turn the camera and mic on or off on the lock screen, turn read receipts on or off, auto start Teams, disable Teams chat, sync contacts with Teams, connect to Google Calendar, link your mobile device, turning message preview on or off, and turn spell check on or off.
By default, people can find your account using your phone number or email address. This guide shows you how to choose who can find you.
Why manage your phone number visibility?
You might want coworkers to find you easily. Or, you might want to keep your number private. Changing these settings gives you control over your privacy.
What happens when you change these settings?
If you turn this feature on, people can search for your name using your phone number. If you turn it off, they will have to find you using your email or username instead.
Steps to show or hide your phone number
You do not need special permissions for these steps. Anyone can change these settings in their own account.
- Open the Start menu and find Microsoft Teams in your apps list.

- You can also open it from the Taskbar or Taskbar overflow.

- If the small window opens, click the expansion button to open the full Teams window.

- Click the Settings and more (…) button near your profile picture and select Settings.

- Click the Privacy tab on the left side of the window.

- Select the button labeled Manage contact information.

- Find your phone number tile. Toggle the switch to On to make it searchable or Off to hide it.
