This article explains how to turn “Show previews” On or Off for notifications in the Messenger Desktop app on Windows 11.

The Messenger Desktop app is a standalone messaging app developed by Facebook that allows users to send and receive messages, make audio and video calls, and share files and media with other users without going through a web browser.

When you use the Messenger app on Windows, it will automatically start and open when you start your computer. You can turn it off so it doesn’t do that every time you start your computer. You can also change your online status in the app.

The Messenger app is integrated with Windows Notifications and displays previews for all notifications in the Notification Center. The app will show a notification banner and preview the message content. To ensure security and privacy, you can turn it off.

Turning on or off the “Show previews” option in the Messenger Desktop app on Windows allows you to control whether or not the app displays previews of your messages in the notification center.

This provides an added layer of security and privacy for your messages. If you turn off the previews, the app will still display notifications for new messages, but it will not show any message content. On the other hand, turning on the previews can be useful if you want to quickly see the content of your messages without opening the app.

Turn Show previews on or off in the Messenger Desktop app

As mentioned above, users can turn “Show previews” on or off in the Messenger Desktop app to hide or display message content on the notification banners.

Here’s how to do that.

First, launch the app by clicking the Start menu and selecting it on the All Apps list.

You can also launch the app from the Taskbar or Taskbar overflow.

When the app opens, click your profile image and select Preferences at the bottom left of your screen.

Next, select the Notifications tab on the left. Under “Show previews,” toggle the switch button below it to the On position to enable previewing messages.

To disable it, toggle the switch button to the Off position to turn off message previews.

That should do it!

Didn’t work for me. I’m on Windows 10, though. “Show Previews” is toggled to “On” but I still don’t see any previews
