How to Enable or Disable Bluetooth in Windows 11

If your laptop has a physical Bluetooth button, you can easily turn it on or off by toggling the button to the On or Off position or tapping it to enable or disable it.

If your computer lacks a Bluetooth switch or button, you can turn Bluetooth on or off in Windows 11. The taskbar in Windows 11 displays your app’s icons in the notification area.

You can see icons for volume, network, Bluetooth, and others. The taskbar should look similar to the one below:

If you don’t see the Bluetooth signal icon on the taskbar, press the Windows key + A on your keyboard to show Windows Quick settings.

The Quick Action settings pane will appear. On the settings, click the Bluetooth option on the list of settings to open the Bluetooth pairing settings.

When the Bluetooth connection shows up, click the Disconnect to disconnect from the Bluetooth pairing.

To connect to Bluetooth, click the icon in the taskbar. When a list of nearby Bluetooth devices appears, select the one you wish to pair with.

How to turn Bluetooth on or off in Windows 11

In some situations, you may want to disable Bluetooth in Windows altogether, not just disconnect. You can do that via the Windows System settings pane.

Windows 11 has a centralized location for the majority of its settings. From system configurations to creating new users and updating Windows, all can be done from the System Settings pane.

To get to System Settings, you can use the Windows key + I shortcut or click on Start ==> Settings, as shown in the image below:

In the System settings pane, select Bluetooth & devices. From there, you can quickly disable and enable Bluetooth by toggling the button to the On or Off position.

Another way to enable or enable Bluetooth devices in Windows 11 is from the Device Manager settings.

To get to Device Manager, click Start and search “Device Manager.” Select from the relevant result.

In Device Manager, find the Bluetooth adapter on the list of devices attached to your Windows computer. Then, right-click the Bluetooth device and either turn it on or off.
