This guide explains how to clear your Activity history in Windows 11.

Why do this? Microsoft tracks your activity to suggest files or apps you might want to use. You may want to clear this data for privacy reasons or to remove clutter from your device.

What happens when done? Your local history will be wiped, and the suggestions based on your past activity will be reset.

Note: This feature has been deprecated. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/whats-new/deprecated-features. Cross-device syncing for certain accounts has ended, aligning with the previous change for Microsoft accounts (MSA).

How to clear activity history in Windows 11

Windows 11 stores your activity locally or in the cloud. You can clear both using the steps below.

First, open your Settings. You can do this by pressing the Windows key + I on your keyboard or by clicking Start and selecting Settings.

Once the Settings window opens, click on Privacy & security on the left menu. Then, click on the Activity history tile on the right side of the screen.

On the next screen, find the section labeled Clear activity history for this account. Click the Clear button to remove your local data.

Steps to clear activity history in Windows 11

If your data is stored online, visit the Privacy Dashboard website. Sign in with your account, look for the App and Services activity section, and select Clear All App and Services.
