How to Enable or Disable Microsoft Store Desktop Shortcuts

If you use a Windows 11 PC, you might notice that when you install apps from the Microsoft Store, they sometimes create shortcuts (little icons) on your desktop automatically. These shortcuts help you open the apps quickly.

Good news! You can now choose if you want these desktop shortcuts to appear automatically or not whenever you install new apps.

What is the Microsoft Store?

The Microsoft Store is already on your Windows computer. It’s like an app shop where you can find and install games and programs safely.

How to Turn Desktop Shortcuts On or Off

Follow these simple steps to control whether new apps add shortcuts to your desktop:

  1. Open the Microsoft Store app.
You can do this by clicking the Microsoft Store icon on your taskbar or searching for “Microsoft Store” in the Start menu.
