Microsoft Teams is a popular app used for chatting, video calls, and working with your team. Sometimes, you might miss messages when you are not using the app. This guide shows you how to manage email notifications for those missed activities.

You can connect your Google calendar, turn the camera and mic on or off on the lock screen, turn read receipts on or off, auto start Teams, disable Teams chat, sync contacts with Teams, connect to Google Calendar, link your mobile device, turning message preview on or off, turn spell check on or off, turn on or off phone number in search results, manage notifications, turn on or off suggested replies in chat, and more.

Why use missed activity emails?

It is important to manage these emails so you stay informed about important work conversations even when the app is closed. If you are away, you will get an email summary. This lets you read messages and reply directly from your email inbox without needing to open Microsoft Teams.

What happens when done?

Once you finish these steps, you will either start receiving email updates for your missed messages or stop getting them, depending on your choice. This helps you control how much your inbox is interrupted by Teams alerts.

How to manage your email settings

  1. Open the Microsoft Teams app and sign in.
  2. Click the More options button (three dots) located next to your profile picture.
  3. Select Settings from the menu that appears.
  4. Click on the Notifications tab.
  5. Look for the Emails section to find Missed activity emails.

Customizing your notifications

After turning the feature on, you can choose how often you get emails and what they include:

  • Frequency: You can choose to get emails as they happen, every few hours, or just once a day.
  • Activities: You can choose to be notified about specific things, such as community posts or invites.

In the Settings window, select Notification and Activity on the left sidebar. Then, change the ‘Missed activity emails’ settings that suit your environment.
