How to Enable Noise Suppression in Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a popular app for chatting and video meetings. Sometimes, background noise like barking dogs or typing can distract others during your calls. The “Noise suppression” feature helps hide these sounds so you can be heard clearly.

Why use this? It makes your meetings sound professional and helps people focus on what you are saying instead of what is happening in your room.

What happens when done? Teams will automatically filter out non-human sounds from your microphone, making your voice the main focus.

There are many settings you can adjust in the app. You can connect your Google calendar, turn the camera and mic on or off on the lock screen, turn read receipts on or off, auto start Teams, disable Teams chat, sync contacts with Teams, connect to Google Calendar, link your mobile device, turning message preview on or off, manage teams notifications during calls, set default speakers, set default microphone, enable high fidelity sound, change mic sensitivity, set default camera, and enable auto-brightness.

How to enable Noise suppression

First, open the Microsoft Teams app from your Start menu.

You can also open the app using the Taskbar or Taskbar overflow.

Once the app is open, follow these steps:

1. Look for the Settings and more button (the three dots) next to your profile picture.
2. Click it and select Settings from the menu.

3. Click the Devices tab on the left side of the window.
4. Under the “Audio settings” section, make sure you have selected the correct microphone from the microphones on the drop-down menu if you have more than one.
5. Find the Noise suppression option and toggle it to On. To turn it off, simply toggle it back to the Off position.
