This article explains how to disable password login each time a Windows 11 computer wakes up from Sleep, Standby, or hibernation.
Windows 11 will prompt you to log in again after a period of inactivity. This security feature prevents unauthorized access to your desktop when you’re away, which is especially important in public or business environments.
If you are home alone or in a private space, you might consider disabling this feature to avoid having to enter your password every time you return to your laptop. Even though a new session isn’t created, having to repeatedly type in a password can be frustrating for some people.
Disable password login when PC wakes up from Sleep in Windows 11
By default, your PC will go to Sleep mode when left unattended to conserve battery and protect your session. If this becomes inconvenient, especially when alone, you can disable this feature.
Windows 11 features a centralized location for most settings. Users can manage system configurations, create new accounts, and update Windows all from the System Settings pane.
To get to System Settings, you can use the Windows key + I shortcut or click on Start ==> Settings, as shown in the image below:

Alternatively, you can use the search box on the taskbar to search for Settings. Then select to open it.
In Windows Settings, click Accounts, and select Sign-in options on the right pane of your screen, shown in the image below.

On the Sign-in options pane, under Additional settings, choose your desired settings for the line “If you’ve been away, when should Windows require you to sign in again?“
The default is every time. However, you can change that to 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, or 15 minutes.

That should do it! Whatever option you choose, it should apply immediately. In some cases, Windows 11 will want you to reboot your PC for the settings to apply fully.
If you don’t see the option above, your PC does not support Modern Standby.
