This post shows students and new users the steps to install and use Android apps on Windows 11.
Microsoft includes a port for Android apps on Windows 11 that will allow you to download and run Android apps without needing a connected smartphone.
You can only download Android apps in the Amazon Appstore, not the Google Play Store, using the Microsoft Store. So you’ll need an Amazon account, and you may be unable to install all Android apps since you can only install from a single source.
Android apps are not yet included with Windows 11. However, if you join the Insider Proview program, you can get and install Android apps today. Full Windows 11 for Android apps will not come until early to mid-2022, when you’ll simply go to the Microsoft Store and install any Android app from Amazon Appstore.
When full support is available, no special emulator or other programs will be required to install Android apps, as this functionality is built into the Windows 11 operating system. The Microsoft Store will be directly connected to the Amazon Appstore, allowing you to install any apps there.
How to install Android apps on Windows 11 computer or laptop
As mentioned above, you can’t install Android apps on your Windows 11 computer just yet unless your computer is signed up for the Microsoft Insider Preview program.
When full support is available, simply go to the Microsoft Store. You can get there by clicking the Store app on the Taskbar, clicking the Start button, and selecting Microsoft Store.

Click Start and select the Microsoft Store app from your pinned apps list.

If you don’t have the Microsoft Store pinned to your Start menu, select All Apps to find it from the app list or search for it via the Start menu search bar.
On the Microsoft Store, browse for the Android app you want to install. You could also use the search function in the store to search for the apps you wish to install.

Once you find the apps you want, select Get from Amazon Appstore to download and install the Android app. After the app is installed, you can then use the app like any other Windows app.
Remember that Android apps are designed for smartphones and mobile devices and may not fill the entire screen on your Windows 11 device. You may find apps that work similarly to those for tablets and larger mobile devices with dynamic, responsive designs.
This is how you’ll get Android apps installed on Windows 11.
Conclusion:
- You can now download and run Android apps on Windows 11 via the Amazon Appstore.
- Enrollment in the Microsoft Insider Preview program is currently required for early access.
- Future updates will allow direct installation from the Microsoft Store without the need for additional emulators.
- The integration will enable users to access a wide range of Android apps seamlessly in a Windows environment.
- Remember that app functionality may vary due to differences in design between mobile and desktop platforms.
