This post shows students and new users how to access Windows 11 most recent updates which were installed on their computers. It will also show you how to remove or uninstall recent updates to fix issues.

Microsoft releases Windows updates and patches, which are good for your computers every month. In most cases, you won’t know or it isn’t clear when each update was installed if you need to go back and resolve some issues which started after Windows updates.

If you recently updated Windows and find out that your Windows computer isn’t working normally, you can review the recent updates and remove the problem files causing your machine to not work.

To get starting access to Windows 11 most recent updates, follow the steps below:

View Windows 11 most recent updates in System Settings

You can view Windows’ most recent updates by going to the System settings pane. From there you can view which updates were recently installed.

Windows 11 has a centralized location for the majority of its settings. Everything can be done from system configurations to creating new users and updating Windows from its System Settings pane.

To get to System Settings, you can use the Windows key + I shortcut or click on Start ==> Settings as shown in the image below:

Alternatively, you can use the search box on the taskbar and search for Settings. Then select to open it.

Windows Settings pane should look similar to the image below. In Windows Settings, click Windows Update, and select Update history on the right pane of your screen shown in the image below.

On the Update history settings pane, you will see Windows update history grouped in the category.

  • Feature Update = technically new versions of Windows OS
  • Quality Updates = also referred to as ( “cumulative updates” or “cumulative quality updates”) are the mandatory updates released every month through Windows Update.
  • Definition Updates = Microsoft Defender antivirus definitions
  • Other Updates = updates for drivers, and devices that are available through Windows Update

You can expand each group and see which updates were recently installed in each category.

When you expand a category, you’ll see all the recent updates which were installed.

To expand each category, click on it. You’ll find a list of recently installed updates on your computer.

Uninstall Recent Windows Updates in Windows 11

Now that you know wish updates were recently installed, use the steps below to remove or uninstall Windows updates. You can only uninstall from Windows Control Panel Program and Feature pane.

On the Windows update history pane, under Related settings, click Uninstall updates as highlighted below in the image.

That will take you to the Control Panel pane. Select the update you want to remove or uninstall and click the Uninstall button.

That should do it!
