This post shows students and new users steps to restore the missing Recycle Bin icon on the Desktop in Windows 11. The Recycle Bin is part of the special icons that used to automatically be added to each user’s Desktop in previous versions of Windows.
In Windows 11, only the Recycle Bin icon is not automatically on the Desktop by default. If you’re missing the Recycle Bin icon on your Desktop in Windows 11, the steps below will show you how to restore it.
There might be other reasons why the Recycle Bin icon is missing from your Desktop. If you configure your Desktop to hide all icons, all icons including the Recycle Bin will be hidden. Before following the steps below make sure your Desktop is showing icons.
