This post shows students and new users steps to install and use Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) in Windows 11. Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) is a feature that enables Windows 11 devices to run Android apps that are available from the Amazon Appstore.

Currently, Windows Subsystem for Android is only available for Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel in the United States. If you’re in another location, it may not be possible to install and use Windows 11.

Also, only Android apps available in the Amazon Appstore can be installed on Windows 11. Apps from the Google Play Store are not yet supported and will not be installed.

You may be able to enable WSA and install Android apps in any location once they leave the Preview and Beta stages. However, some requirements must be met before installing it on a Windows 11 PC.

Below, we’ll list the requirements and steps to install WSA on Windows 11.

How to use Windows Subsystem for Android in Windows 11

As mentioned, WSA enables Windows 11 devices to run Android apps from the Amazon Appstore.

However, before you can install WSA in Windows 11, these requirements must be met:

  • Your PC needs to be on Windows 11 and meet these hardware requirements.
  • You may need to enable virtualization for your PC’s BIOS/UEFI. Click here for a guide on how to enable this on your PC.
  • Make sure you’re running Microsoft Store version 22110.1402.6.0 or higher.
  • Your PC’s region must be set to the U.S.
  • Your PC must be in the Beta Channel. If you are new to the Windows Insider Program, click here to get started with registration and joining your PC to the Beta Channel.
  • You will also need to have a U.S.-based Amazon account to use the Amazon Appstore.

Once all the requirements above are met, continue below to get WSA installed on Windows 11.
